**The opportunity**
Do you have experience in leading teams that provide high-quality support services to older people and people with a disability and/or their carers?
In this role, you will provide operational leadership and management of the Community Support teams to ensure services and programs are reflective of need and are delivered in accordance with relevant Government funding (CHSP & HACCPYP) and other requirements.
The Community Support team sits alongside the Community Child Health, Early Years and Youth Services teams, within Council’s Community Life Department.
The teams deliver a range of services including planned activity groups, delivered meals, community transport, home maintenance and modifications, seniors events and festivals, and advocacy, support, and education programs for seniors and carers.
**What you’ll be working on**
- Lead and coordinate government-funded services, seniors’ programs, and events in line with Council policies.
- Manage contracts, service agreements, and reporting to government bodies.
- Build partnerships to support the wellbeing of older residents and people with disabilities.
- Support leadership development within the Community Life team.
- Advise Council and senior leaders on portfolio-related issues and aged care reforms.
- Drive strategic planning, budgeting, and service delivery for the Community Support team.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
- Seek funding for ageing and wellbeing initiatives aligned with Council priorities.
**What you need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualification in management, health, social sciences or related disciplines.
- Proven management experience with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team of professional staff to deliver effective work programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of budgeting and relevant accounting and financial procedures.
- Ability to problem solve and to influence others to achieve strategic goals.
- Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with a collaborative approach to working across the organisation.
- Sound knowledge and experience of policy trends and frameworks at all levels of government relative to the portfolios and ability to identify relevance to Council.
- Strong experience in planning, coordinating and delivering aged services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop employees to deliver best outcomes.
