Market Risk measure and limit Macquarie's exposure to adverse movements in market rates - stock prices, commodity prices, interest rates, and foreign exchange rates. On a daily basis, Market Risk is responsible for setting, monitoring, reporting and enforcing risk limits across all the trading areas of the Group. In addition, Market Risk approval is required on all new deals and products prior to trading. Whether it is an innovative exotic derivative structure, or the purchase of an entire trading business, Market Risk analysts work closely with the front office to ensure that the risks arising from the new venture are fully understood, and adequately constrained.

As an Associate/Analyst in the Traded Market Risk team in our Sydney office, this role will see you:

- oversee the monitoring and reporting of risk metrics daily to senior management, including the CEO, CRO and CFO.
- interact with the front office traders to ensure that the market risks arising from day-to-day trading positions are fully understood and managed appropriately within the limit framework.
- analyse structured trades and approve new products / structures for a range of trading desks including Australian power, gas and emissions, Australian equities, FX and interest rates.
- set and manage appropriate trading limits. Ensure that the risk framework appropriately captures and constrains market risk run by the trading desks
- liaise with back office and support staff to ensure that the trading systems adequately represent the risk profile of the trading books, and that risk numbers are reported in an accurate and timely manner.
- be immersed in the global financial markets. Understanding what drives financial markets and keeping abreast of market news and trends is vital part of understanding and identifying potential risks.
- operate in a global environment with staff in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Geneva, New York, Houston and Gurugram.

To be successful in this role you will have strong analytical ability and decision-making skills. You will be an effective communicator with interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across all levels, including regular interaction with the front office traders. You will have the ability to switch between detailed day to day activity and problem solving and managing higher-level, long-term activities and objective, as well as the ability to sustain high levels of performance under pressure and short deadlines. Your ability to conceptualise, anticipate and articulate emerging issues and keen interesting in financial markets will be vital in this role.

You will be degree educated, ideally with a focus on engineering, science, maths, technology or economics.
