
Workshop Manager

Our client is one of the leading suppliers of undercarriage components for heavy mobile equipment and fixed plant in Australia. They are seeking a Workshop Manager (Queensland) who will be responsible for planning and managing the daily workings to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining safe, high quality standards to maximise growth opportunities. The role will also provide training, coaching and development for the continuous improvement of the workshop operations. It is a "hands-on" position.
Responsibilities include
- Contribute to the development and execution of the overall business strategy
- Provide ongoing feedback, mentoring, advice and coaching to direct and indirect reports, supporting skill development, continuous improvement, and increased competencies through an effective performance management framework
- Oversee all HR responsibilities for direct and indirect reports including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, performance reviews, disciplinary management, and workplace health and safety and rehabilitation
- Direct and oversee the formulation and implementation of approved business plans, operating plans, budgets, and capital expenditure within the Yatala operations
- Responsible for monitoring costs and performance against budget
- Provide technical support and advice to the team, including administration, sales and operations
- Review in house track inspection reports and service quotations
- Ensure repairs meet service quality standards, including conducting regular inspections throughout the repair process
- Attend scheduled meetings as required eg daily pre-starts, toolboxes and works in progress
- Utilise Navision software
- Driving excellent Risk and HSEQ performance within the workshop operations
- Continuously reviews the effectiveness of process within your work scope including the identification and mitigation of risks in consultation with management
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed
- Ensure serviced parts meet rebuild quality standards, including conducting regular inspections throughout the rebuild process with internal and 3rd parts repairers
- Conduct post completion analysis of all jobs
**Requirements**:
- Current and valid Australian Motor Driver’s Licence
- Proven track record in managing workshop activities
- Understanding of HSEQ requirements within an engineering workshop environment
- Sound Knowledge of industrial safety legislation, issues, general requirements, and practices
- Extensive undercarriage knowledge, especially mining, with minimum 5 years' experience
- Ability to lead, manage and motivate teams and a willingness to actively contribute towards achieving overall strategies
- Relationship development and negotiation skills
- Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data, compile reports and quotations
- High level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to engage with a wide range of people, including supervisors, technicians, clients, and stakeholders
