A Research Assistant is needed to help with ongoing research projects involving cognitive and behavioural testing.

The Cognition, Ageing & Neurodegenerative Disease Lab (CANDL) and the Head Injury Group (HIG) in the School of Biomedicine, are looking to hire a Research Assistant to help with preclinical and administration work for ongoing research projects involving behavioural testing at the University, out in the community, and at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). We are looking to better understand brain health in people with Parkinson’s disease and those who have experienced a concussion or traumatic brain injury (TBI). The Research Assistant will contribute to this project by providing technical and administrative support.

This role will be split between CANDL (0.5FTE) and HIG (0.5FTE).

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks, including participant recruitment and participation management, data collection, entry and extraction.
- Conduct laboratory-based procedures (including, but not limited to, protein extraction, Western blot, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, QuPath based image analysis).
- Perform statistical analysis of research data and interpretation of main research findings.
- Supporting the research teams where needed (e.g. lab setup, monitoring and restocking lab supplies).

**To be successful you will need**:

- Bachelor’s degree or above in Neuroscience, Psychology, Health Sciences, Nursing, or a related field.
- Strong communication and computer skills (e.g. MS Office, Redcap, data management/analysis programs and other electronic communications).
- Experience working with human participants. Blood draw training is highly desirable.
- Experience with laboratory-based procedures (e.g. protein extraction, Western blot, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, QuPath based image analysis)
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and problem solve effectively.
- Be available to work flexible hours (some out of hours work may be required on occasion)
