**The Opportunity**
We are seeking an experienced investigator to join our Investigations, Conduct and Assurance Unit, which forms part of the Legal, Commercial and Assurance Services Directorate within the People and Corporate Services Division. The role is part of a small team that undertakes activities which maintain a strong fraud and corruption prevention and assurance framework in the Department.
The Investigator is accountable to the Unit Manager, Investigations, Conduct and Assurance and is responsible for researching and investigating internal incidents, claims and complaints as reported by individuals to the Department or to an external referral authority.
The Investigator works collaboratively to conduct or contribute to the completion of objective and unbiased investigations in compliance with organisational and government policy, common law standards, legislative requirements and principles of natural justice and procedural fairness that can withstand internal and external scrutiny.
The Investigator is responsible for preparing highly confidential and detailed reports based on factual findings including reporting to relevant referral or integrity agencies as required.
The Investigator assists with relevant policy and procedure management as well as conducts research, assurance activities and education across the Department.
**About You**
We are looking for a team player who has experience in assurance activities and undertaking investigations and can use a range of communication and negotiation styles to suit different audiences and purposes. This role requires strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills and someone who can contribute towards strategic assurance and operational activities.

**Special Conditions**:
- A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
**Educational qualifications**
Relevant qualification such as Certificate IV of Government Investigations or other equivalent education or experience is desirable.
**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation
