**Who we are**
The Plant Export Operations Branch (PEOB) facilitates trade and market access through the development of technical operational phytosanitary export inspection and certification policies. The branch does this by developing and implementing policies and guidance materials that ensure Australian horticulture, grain and other plant-based exports meet Australia's export legislation, international obligations and importing country conditions. The branch has a key role in advancing Australia's market access priorities by actively engaging in overseas market access negotiations. The branch works with all participants in the export pathway to continuously improve the export framework and ensure expert advice and support is available to the horticulture and grain export industries. In addition, the branch administers the development and training of authorised officers to conduct inspections.
**The Jobs**
As a Plant Export Assessor you will be responsible for:
- conducting assessment validation
- contributing to the development of training and assessment material
- contributing to the review of instructional material
- contributing to strategic planning
- providing feedback to the relevant programs on the effectiveness of training, assessment and instructional materials
- developing and supporting productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- representing the program at relevant fora and providing technical advice as required.
**Please note** that this recruitment process will be used to fill ongoing vacancies in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicants will have knowledge and/or experience in:
- adult training and assessment, including both face-to-face and virtual delivery
- the operations within the plant exports environment
- working remotely from their team and/or supervisor
- communicating with and developing productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
**Mandatory qualifications**
To be considered for these positions you must hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or already hold a diploma or higher level qualification in adult education.
**Eligibility and other requirements**
The successful applicants must:
- hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence
- note that the physical requirements of the role(s) involve a combination of outdoor and office-based work
- wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures
- note that the position involves extensive travel, sometimes to regional and remote areas.
