Manager, Media and Communications

About TIQTrade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland Government's dedicated global business agency, designed to help facilitate Queensland exporters take their products to world markets, promote Queensland as the perfect place to invest and builds global engagement.Your contribution (key responsibilities and accountabilities)
- Manage, coach, support and lead a small team of media and communications professionals and work collaboratively with others to provide excellent service delivery.
- Manage and oversee media and communication issues across the global organisation and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders on those activities.
- Manage and maintain internal and external communication at a fast pace, across digital and other channels ensuring communications are high quality, consistent, accurate, timely and fit for purpose.
- Work collaboratively with senior management and key stakeholders to deliver a range of media and communication services including proactive media releases and opportunities, issues management, strategic messaging, and communications plans.
- Monitor, anticipate and identify contentious media issues and opportunities (including social media) and manage appropriately.
- Develop, coordinate and implement media and communications strategies and plans to support and achieve the strategic priorities and objectives of TIQ both domestically and internationally.
- Manage, coordinate and facilitate the production of high-quality media and communications collateral including: press releases, features and Annual Report production.
- Manage the flow of media services and communications activities between the reporting department and TIQ to provide consistent messaging and efficient two-way provision of advice.
- Research, write and distribute media releases and respond to media enquiries and the development of a range of content suitable for a range of media platforms, including media responses, media releases, speeches, media plans and talking points.
- Manage team members and external providers creating high quality written, digital, photographic and video content use for internal and external media communications.
- Maximise the visibility and positive perception and reputation of TIQ through web, communications, media and other activities including the management and oversight of TIQ's online presence.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external media professionals to identify and develop positive stories about the TIQ.
- Lead and manage communication initiatives as required to ensure outcomes and benefits are delivered on time and meet client expectations.
- Develop and implement frameworks and systems to remain current and innovate in an ever-changing communications and media landscape, and to support current and future directions.
- Develop and maintain effective communication networks within the reporting department in relation to identifying and developing a proactive response to emergent and contentious issues.
