**About the role**

**Key responsibilities**
- Develop, implement and continuously improve all site operating procedures.
- Work closely with the Warehouse Operations Manager in executing the production plan through maximising production inputs, machine uptime, efficiency and outputs.
- Provide on the ground, daily support and direction to a growing production team and motivate them to deliver daily production targets.
- Operate meat processing machinery, including but not limited to bandsaws, slicers, dryers and cleaning equipment.
- Inspect all finished products to ensure production specifications are met.
- Implement and continuously improve site environmental, health and safety procedures in accordance with company and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure that all production work orders are complete and accurately documented.
- Participate in improvement projects and suggest improvements to processes, plant and equipment.
- Manage and co-ordinate new product and process trials, set up production, quality and safety systems.
- Must love dogs
- Have 5 + years’ experience in a food production or manufacturing environment, preferably in a meat production role.
- A Certificate III or above in Meat Processing, Process Manufacturing or an equivalent qualification is highly regarded.
- Supervisory experience in a high volume, fast paced food production environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP principles and procedures, quality and safety standards.
- Understanding of best practice personal and food hygiene and sanitisation requirements.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills including time management, prioritising tasks to meet competing deadlines and the capacity to achieve production targets.
- Solutions focused, problem solving and consistency in following through.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- High level accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the production process.
- A general understanding of the local pet food industry or willingness to develop knowledge which will guide and inform production activities.
- Able to work in a cold environment.
- Is comfortable working in a fixed term contract - 6 months, with view to extend.
