An exciting opportunity is now available for a strategic and proactive **Manager WHS Compliance** to join our team within the Department of Education. In this senior leadership role, you'll contribute to the safety and well-being of thousands of staff, students, and visitors across NSW schools and workplaces. **About the role**

The **Manager WHS Compliance** leads the design, development and implementation of policies and programs that support safe and healthy learning and working environments across the Department.

You will be responsible for:

- Managing WHS risk management programs, policies, and training resources.
- Preparing high-level reports and briefings for senior executive and government stakeholders.
- Monitoring and evaluating WHS performance against strategic objectives and compliance benchmarks.
- Overseeing financial and contractual performance within your business unit.
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders and being a key escalation point for critical WHS matters and ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Building governance, communication and training frameworks that enhance WHS capability across the department.

This role is pivotal in strengthening our WHS strategy, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting a culture of safety across a large and diverse workforce.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Demonstrated experience in WHS compliance, risk management, or policy development at a senior level.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate performance data and translate insights into practical solutions.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience navigating complex issues and influencing across all levels of an organisation.
- A proven ability to manage large-scale programs, lead teams, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Relevant qualifications in work health and safety or equivalent work history and experience
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
