**Role**:
The FLO Wellbeing Coordinator will work under the direction of the FLO Campus Principal, as well as working collaboratively with the FLO Leadership Team to support improvement in student wellbeing and engagement across the FLO programs of CaLM, FLIP and VPC.
- The core work of the FLO Wellbeing Coordinator is to:
- lead proactive and preventative work relating to student wellbeing with the intention of building staff capacity to meet the wellbeing needs of students through professional development, modelling, promoting and consultation;
- lead the development and implementation of early intervention strategies and raise mental health and wellbeing awareness;
- ensure appropriate, consistent, and timely professional level wellbeing support is provided to students where mental health, wellbeing and behaviours of concern arise;
- provide leadership, support, and guidance to the teaching and education support staff
The FLO Wellbeing Coordinator will provide a coordinated response to the wellbeing and engagement needs of students and their families. They are required to refer to and use DE and Melton FLO policies and procedures.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support students experiencing behaviours of concern, with the assistance of other education support, teaching, and leadership staff.
- Support students with preventative interventions for behaviours of concern, including the development of safety and behaviour support plans, and overarching student snapshots.
- Provide feedback and reflections to other educational support, teaching and leadership staff on student behaviour and intervention and prevention strategies.
- Development and analysis of wellbeing tracking software and tools to identify targeted interventions and social-emotional growth.
- Plan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families, other professionals, and agencies when appropriate, and manage the associated risks.
- Coordinate and work with teams of staff, students, parents/ carers, DE personnel and other agencies to effectively manage complex cases and critical incidents and bring about positive outcomes for student wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with the school to contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others
- Support at risk students to engage in alternative educational opportunities including activities on and off campus.
- Liaise and collaborate with other Department areas (including Student Support Services staff) and external service providers where necessary to provide support to students.
