What are we looking for?

Join our National Industrial and Employment Law practice in Perth as a Legal Assistant, and enjoy first hand, assisting our Lawyers with all their administrative needs. This is a Permanent full time position. We also offer a flexible work arrangement, as well as an office space in the heart of Perth’s CBD overlooking the Swan river and the beautiful Government House gardens.

You will be working closely with a small team of three lawyers who service our clients across Industrial and Employment Law related cases. Our clients are everyday employees, Unions and their members.

As one of the support team members, you will help maintain and drive the success of the department. Your energy and drive will be integral in achieving successful outcomes along with your positive approach to your work. This is a not-to-miss opportunity for those who like to take ownership of their work and work hands-on with employee only matters.

A typical day as a legal assistant at Slater + Gordon will include:

- Liaising with clients, lawyers and other professionals
- Arranging appointments
- Producing and filing court documents
- Preparing briefs
- Managing a database
- Diary management
- Generating and editing correspondence
- All other administrative tasks

What will you bring?

Ideally, you will have experience as a legal assistant with a passion for social justice and generating positive outcomes for clients.

The following experience and skills will ensure your ongoing success in this position:

- 1-2 years prior experience as a legal assistant, administrative assistant or similar
- An understanding of Unions and the way they operate for their members
- A proven ability in working as part of a team
- A high attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- An ability to deal sensitively with clients and show empathy
- Experience with the MS Office suite
- Open communication skills
