- What is a typical workday?
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the production of Canadian and Australian payroll, within established deadlines, by:
- Ensuring compliance of submitted timesheets;
- Processing entries related to payroll production;
- Making adjustments to earnings and/or deductions when required;
- Balancing all transactions performed according to the internal validation process to ensure payroll compliance;
- Validate the accuracy of employees' gross pay calculations, particularly in the case of special payments such as bonuses and termination payments;
- Ensures the accuracy of deductions made and to be made on employee payrolls such as garnishments, group insurance and RRSPs;
- Participate in activities related to data integrity between the payroll and HR systems;
- Identify issues related to payroll processing and refer them to the HR team and/or superior when applicable;
- Validate all data submitted at the time of hiring;
- Process and validate documents related to leave or termination;
- Generate and validate the calculation of statutory vacations according to the established calendar;
- Generate and validate the calculation of vacations to be paid upon termination;
- Perform GL issuance and reconciliation for Canadian and Australian payrolls after each payroll production;
- Generate the sorting report for Canadian and Australian payroll
- Reconcile government remittances from the payroll provider;
- Validate and send payments for input each pay period;
- Address employee questions related to payroll calculations;
- Validate and ensure compliance of data entries to the employee files with respect to group insurance and RRSP;
- Generate the group insurance invoice GL entry on a monthly basis;
- Reconcile group insurance arrears vs. payments received;
- Establish a follow-up report on overpaid vacation payments;
- Coordinate the issuance of monthly and quarterly remittances to all provincial workers' compensation boards - CNESST and WCB;
- Perform quarterly reconciliation of vacation % and accruals calculated vs. weeks awarded in Workday;
- Participate in the year-end processing, including validation and processing of required adjustments;
- Ensure the issuance and submission of reconciliation reports to government agencies.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role;
- SCP certification from the National Payroll Institute;
- Bilingual (spoken and written);
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Team player;
- Good knowledge of Excel;
- Sense of urgency and concern for the internal client;
- Attention to details.
