As a Shop Manager at Market Lane you will work directly with your team of dedicated baristas and retail assistants to ensure the customer’s experience at our flagship store is a positive one. You will be in charge of, and responsible for, the product and service quality provided in our Prahran Market location, as well as manage and support your staff and carry out staff evaluations, inductions and on-the-tools training and coaching.

We expect our team of Shop Managers to lead by example (e.g., following our drink quality guidelines, providing professional, warm and attentive customer service to everyone, and teaching and mentoring the Barista team to learn and grow in their roles, specifically in regards to their coffee making, customer service and retail sales skills.

Keeping up with inventory, banking, ordering and quality control are a part of the role too and require strong organisational and time management skills. This role is supported by a Shop Supervisor.

Our Prahran Market Shop 13 shop is our (freshly renovated) flagship Market Lane Coffee location, where our story began in 2009. With the recent renovation, many of the special elements that existed in the space when we opened 15 years ago have been brought back to life. We’ll be roasting on-site on with our original 5-kilo Probat roaster, coffee cuppings (tastings) will be held every Tuesday, and we’ll be hosting roasting classes again from the space. The shop is open 7 days a week and is located in the Prahran Market along its fresh produce stalls and speciality shops.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

A successful applicant must have 2+ years of hospitality or retail business management/supervisor experience. You must have excellent interpersonal skills for various purposes like managing your staff, looking after your customers and reporting back to upper management.
