Supportive Care Worker
Cancer Council Tasmania (CCT) is the leading cancer charity in Tasmania working hard to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians.
More than 10 Tasmanians a day are receiving a cancer diagnosis. There will be 10 tomorrow, and 10 more the next day, including people we know and those close to us.
Cancer Council Tasmania is here for all Tasmanians who turn to us for support. Whether this is for one-on-one emotional support, group sessions, transporting people to treatment or providing financial support and complimentary therapies. All of these supportive care services are provided free of charge state-wide to anyone who needs it, made possible through the generous financial support of the community. Our team’s aim is to respond to the needs of the community and work to identify opportunities where we can increase access to, and knowledge of, our services for those who need them -and we’re on the hunt for a new Supportive Care Worker to join us.
This role involves being there for our clients - though supporting our Support Centre visitors with their cancer related concerns and issues; delivering our support and educational programs; and raising awareness of our services to the community - understandably the role of Supportive Care Worker is a significant and rewarding community focused role.
**About you**:
Having previous experience in a supportive care role is pretty important as you'll be required to provide face-to-face, person-centred support directly to clients. Ideally you’ll have related tertiary qualifications, a good understanding of state-wide and local health and community networks and the major issues facing Tasmanians impacted by cancer.
You’ll also get to work with an incredibly capable and committed team of staff and volunteers who are delivering these essential services. So you’ll need to be self-organised, a skilled and compassionate communicator and bring a caring and positive attitude to your daily work.
Having cancer is hard, but getting support should not be - and the work that CCT does has a life-long impact on thousands of Tasmanians. Personally you’ll get to make a difference in people’s lives, every day. So we look forward to welcoming someone wanting to work for an organisation that is fiercely committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
