**Position Information**:
Positioned in the heart of the Balmain Peninsula, Balmain Public School is a dynamic and innovative inner-city school, known locally as the 'school in the park'. Gladstone Park is our school's 'backyard' and is an extension of our teaching and learning spaces. The school currently has an enrolment of 341 students; it is at capacity with 13 classes, including two Opportunity Classes (OC). Approximately 1% of students identify as Aboriginal or of Torres Strait Islander descent, whilst 35% of students come from an English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) background.
The school is staffed by dedicated, enthusiastic and supportive teachers, who deliver effective high-quality teaching and learning programs, underpinned by the school's targets and vision. In order to meet the needs of our future-focused learners, Balmain Public School is ensuring all teaching and learning programs implement creativity, critical thinking, collaborative learning environments and build on effective communication skills.

The school is committed to the ongoing implementation of the 'Positive Behaviour for Learning' (or PB4L) framework, with the identified need to continue the journey of collecting, analysing and communicating wellbeing data over a period of time.
Student voice is highly valued at Balmain Public School and our K-6 students will continue to be offered opportunities to build their individual leadership capacity.
**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, along with a proven capacity to work as part of the executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher with the complex responsibilities of a leadership role
2. Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of high-quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs, informed by evidence-based practices and effective data analysis, to improve student outcomes and engagement
3. An open, visible and approachable leader with outstanding organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, who empowers staff and builds positive, authentic relationships with all members of the school community
4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues, within an open learning space, to co-design and embed future-focused investigative learning practices
5. Demonstrated leadership capacity in managing effective behaviour and to positively contribute to whole school wellbeing processes that support the wellbeing of students so that they can connect, succeed, thrive and learn
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
