This is advertisement is for a single vacancy with multiple possible classifications. The successful applicant will be appointed at a classification appropriate for their skills, experience and qualifications.

**About the role**:
The Safety Manager SALHN, has responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of systems and strategies that enable the delivery of the LHN’s governance, clinical risk management, litigation, medical credentialing and incident reporting. This includes ongoing strategic monitoring and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical service quality improvement and assurance programmes and the identification, assessment and management of associated risks.

The Safety Manager is also accountable for the strategic leadership, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of safety and clinical risk management systems and plan that supports the LHN, State and National Safety & Quality Frameworks and Health Reform agenda.

The successful applicant will:

- Demonstrates a strong understanding of patient safety and clinical risk management.
- Have extensive experience in leading or initiating strategies designed to improve patient safety, quality and the effective management of clinical risk, in order to increase the effectiveness and accountability of an organisation.
- Experienced in a range of project, policy development and planning work involving leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve significant outcomes.
- Understand the principles and practice and the legal framework relating to patient safety, clinical risk management, investigations and mitigation, in the context of governance within the South Australian public health care system.
