
Therapy Assistant

Bethanie Waters are seeking a compassionate, organised and energetic **Therapy Assistant** to work with our residents as part of the Therapy Team **28hrs per week**.
This offer includes an exciting opportunity to work on a brand new therapy reablement program (STAR program). The program is about providing additional short-term therapy to residents in times of need. It is available to customers with an acute need to optimise functional performance and wellbeing.
Under the STAR program - the Therapy Assistant is responsible for carrying out therapy plans as delegated by the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist, and in accordance with service standards and organisational policy and procedures.
Examples of therapy plans may include (but are not limited to):
- Exercise programs
- Reablement programs following injury (such as a hip fracture, stroke).
- ADL retraining programs
- Falls prevention programs
- Cognitive function programs
- Dementia specific programs
- Social and emotional support programs

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Ensure activities for customers are provided within service guidelines, financial resources and appropriate timeframes, liaising with the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Facility Manager as required
- Organise, maintain and/or create appropriate environments and resources for individual and group activities
- Assist in the planning and review of the therapy and lifestyle program under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, including scheduling of regular and special activities and events.
- Deliver individual and group therapy and activity programs, as scheduled and according to therapy, lifestyle and wellness needs and choices, for customers
- Adapt activities to customer’s level of function under the guidance of a Therapist.
- Address physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for customers.
- Ensure resources are utilised safely, effectively and appropriately
- Complete documentation, other records and statistics according to requirements
- Attend and complete mandatory training in a timely manner
- Be familiar with and able to access and use the Bethanie information, communication and technology systems
- Adhere to all Bethanie procedures and guidelines, including Therapy team guidelines and processes
- Respond to feedback from customers and their representative/s
**Requirements**:
- Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group Inc.
- Certificate III in Allied Health Assistant & previous experience **_essential_**:
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic First Aid certificate
