The Opportunity
Are you passionate about shaping the future by developing the next generation of talent? Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Talent Specialist - Early Careers based in our Macquarie, Sydney Global HQ. As the Talent Specialist - Early Careers, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of talent programs for interns and graduates, building our talent pipeline for future leadership and expert roles.
Responsibilities include:
Identify and Attract Early Career Talent to Cochlear:
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to develop strategies for identifying and attracting early career talent, with a focus on diversity recruiting initiatives.
- Coordinate Cochlear’s participation in careers fairs and on-campus events, advocating company values and positioning Cochlear as an employer of choice.
- Support DE&I goals by ensuring early career talent programs align with broader organizational objectives.
- Build external relationships with tertiary institutions, academic communities, and industry groups.
- Co-design and oversee effective recruitment processes, including appropriate assessment tools and the design of assessment centers.
- Analyze market trends to develop and execute talent acquisition strategies.
Lead the Design and Deployment of Development Programs:
- Provide leadership and a central point of contact for early career talent from onboarding through their time in formal programs.
- Support the creation of rotation opportunities within the business and match early career talent to these rotations.
- Ensure leaders are skilled mentors and coaches, collecting feedback to improve the process continuously.
- Collaborate with the Global Talent Leadership Team to build effective development programs, combining formal learning, mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job learning.
- Work with the Director Learning & Leadership Development and third-party providers to deliver elements of the development strategy.
- Facilitate and present at Cochlear events for early career talent as required.
- Ensure effective offboarding as formal programs conclude.
Lead Analysis and Reporting of Program Performance:
- Collaborate with the Talent Insights Specialist to analyze data impacting attraction, development, career progression, succession planning, engagement, and retention of early career talent.
- Ensure reporting spans the full experience of talent, tracking value delivered through the strategy.
- Support annual and regulatory reporting requirements with relevant metrics.
- Communicate findings clearly, providing reports and interpretations for diverse audiences.
- Influence and negotiate to align stakeholder views and achieve the best business outcomes.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in attracting and developing talent.
- Proven ability to project manage, plan workflow, work independently, and take initiative in a dynamic global environment.
- Ability to work across multiple priorities and manage expectations and tight deadlines with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High customer centricity, building trust and engaging with senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Ability to articulate the ‘so what’ story to senior stakeholders.
