**Healthscope Chief Nursing Officer**

**The Role**

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is accountable for providing Healthscope with strong clinical leadership to ensure delivery of safe, quality patient care and advances the vision for nursing and midwifery experience and professional practice whilst providing strategic advice to the Healthscope Executive and Board.

The CNO is a key executive position within Healthscope, providing professional leadership across 15,000 nursing and midwifery staff nationally and encompassing acute, sub-acute and mental health facilities.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the CNO role will encompass:

- Executive nursing and midwifery leadership
- Nursing governance and professional practice
- Nursing education and evidence-based practice
- Infection prevention and control
- Nursing safety and well-being
- Clinical governance in partnership with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Director Clinical Governance (DCG)
- Work collaboratively to support;
- Health service accreditation
- Clinical quality framework
- Policy creation implementation, audit and review
- Patient experience strategy
- Medication safety
- Consumer engagement
- Nursing workforce optimisation, professional practice development and recruitment strategies

**About You**

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and inclusive leader with the ability to manage in large, complex healthcare environments. The role requires the ability to lead strategic initiatives and to foster positive workforce culture whilst focussing on the relationship between nurse and patient as central to exceptional patient care.

You will possess a deep knowledge of professional nursing and midwifery practice at an individual and systems level, coupled with an ability to influence and communicate to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will also have the following criteria:
Mandatory:

- Current AHPRA registration as nurse or midwife
- Appropriate post-graduate qualification in health, business or management at Masters level or equivalent
- 10 years’ experience in nursing and nursing leadership roles

Desirable:

- Membership of an appropriate professional association or college

**Vaccination Policy**

Applicants will be asked to provide evidence of vaccination history inclusive of at least two Covid19 vaccinations in accordance with Healthscope’s current vaccination policy.
