Disability support work can be a challenging yet highly rewarding job. At Mentor Matters WA, we support and train our support workers to be the best they can be. We believe our clients deserve the best in quality and professional engagement. As such, we provide a service that strongly supports and develops our team to deliver an exceptional quality service.

At Mentor Matters WA, support workers are trained to implement the written plans that guide their work. These plans are goal oriented and developed by the coordinator in close consultation with therapists, clients and their families. Thus, the support worker is given a framework to use in their 1:1 sessions with the client.

**KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MENTOR MATTERS WA SUPPORT WORKER**
- Provide 1:1 support to a client in a variety of contexts.
- Follow a plan developed by the coordinator to achieve SMART goals.
- Monitor individuals’ progress against the stated SMART goals and provide ongoing verbal and written feedback to the coordinator about progress.
- Assist clients to actively participate in their community.
- Assist clients with daily living skills and independence building.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with their clients and their families, based on trust and respect.
- Perform duties in a manner which promotes dignity, independence and the acquisition of new skills.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team as well as individually.
- Maintain session notes.

**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE OF A MENTOR MATTERS WA SUPPORT WORKER**
- An unrestricted Driver’s Licence.
- Full access to a roadworthy vehicle which may be used to transport clients.
- Comprehensive vehicle insurance.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Ability to use technology such as computers and smart phones.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- Empathy, enterprise and initiative.
- Ability to plan, adapt and tailor experiences to suit client’s needs.
- Ability to implement the client’s written Support Plan.
- Personal morals, values and attitudes aligned to a desire to assist people with disabilities.
- Ability to implement the client’s stated goals and strategies.

**MENTOR MATTERS WA SUPPORT WORKERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE OR OBTAIN**
- A Working With Children Check (WWC)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Modules

**DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS OF A MENTOR MATTERS WA SUPPORT WORKER**
- Certificate III in Disability, Welfare, Individual Support or equivalent.
- Experience in the disability sector or relevant support worker experience
- Flexibility and availability to work across 7 days a week.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $37.13 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 18 per week
