**Public Sector People (PSP) **are currently looking to speak to experienced Media advisor
***to join a Local Government based in Melbourne's north on a 12 month contract.

- Provide strategic advice and support across the organisation to ensure that councils communications ate appropriate, relevant, targeted and align with the objectives for Council
- Proactively plan media campaigns
- Proactively develop media forecast, outlining opportunities for media releases and photo opportunities etc
- Research and write media releases and statements to achieve positive media coverage for Council services, facilities and activities
- Organise and manage Council media briefings
- Create & develop positive working relationships with journalists and media representatives

**Further requirements include**:

- Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in media, communications, public relations
- Demonstrated significant experience in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of media engagement and communications
- A strong understanding of local, state and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
