The purpose of this role is to process, verify and decision residential mortgage credit submissions (new business & variations), from the WPB Distribution Network. To determine suitability of security and appropriate Loan to Valuation ratios with respect to the above. To make recommendations to higher authority on loans outside of jobholder’s delegated limits, and to provide high quality service to assist WPB Distribution Channels to achieve AOP targets whilst maintaining a focus on risk management and compliance with credit policy.

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyse, verify and decision residential loan proposals.
- Exercise a high degree of commercial acumen, whilst ensuring all submissions satisfy the Bank’s policies & legislative guidelines.
- Build and maintain value based, constructive working relationships with key internal and external customers.
- Provide a reference point for WPB distribution channel staff to direct enquires relating to lending and assist with their training, coaching and development.
- Assist in providing ongoing training, guidance and support to WPB Distribution Channel staff, including visits to Branches.
- Ensure that all Audit and Compliance related issues are complied with and that all relevant reports are actioned in a timely manner.
- Preparation of files and registers for various visits by auditors, regulators etc.
- Management and/or participation in a variety of related projects emerging from time to time.
- Satisfactory monthly Quality Assurance results.
Requirements**Requirements**:

- Understanding of risk assessment required to complete secured residential underwriting.
- Knowledge of local regulations and compliance - APRA, ASIC, AML, KYC guidelines
- Mortgage/Lending underwriting experience; understanding property valuation, credit reporting and lending criteria
- Ability to interpret financial statements, credit reports and self-employed income types.
- Minimum 2-5 years underwriting experience within Australian market with specific self-employed/construction underwriting experience required.
