**About the Role**

As the Safety Lead you will be part of an integrated product team providing specialist safety engineering services in support of the design, delivery, acceptance and sustainment of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS).

Key responsibilities will also include:

- Conduct analysis of the EDHFCS system design to identify potential safety deficiencies and to assess, control and eliminate hazards.
- Support other Engineering Functions to provide guidance on System & Functional Safety requirements and methods, including failure mode and fault tree analysis, hazard/risk assessments and hazard /risk mitigations.
- Ensure safety requirements are embedded in the design specification for the EDHFCS and the end product complies to legislative requirements.
- Support the Installation, Verification & Validation (IV&V) engineering function in developing test and verification activities to demonstrate safety requirements have been met and confirm all safety controls have been implemented.
- Conduct activities in accordance with project plans and timelines within established practices and standards, whilst seeking out opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain the Safety related program plans, processes, and deliverables (e.g. the Safety Case) for both the EDHFCS and the existing DHFCS capability

**About you**
- You will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or higher and have the ability to obtain an NV-1 security clearance
- Demonstrable Safety Engineering experience, preferably within a defence
- environment
- Extensive knowledge of current building, mechanical, electrical, safety and
- environmental legislation and standards
- Well established verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage with all business stakeholders.
