**The Role**
The Workforce Australia Policy and Analytics branch is looking for Data Analysts at the APS5 level.

Workforce Australia is Australia’s suite of employment support programs. Workforce Australia is currently assisting over 800,000 Australian job seekers to find and maintain employment. Workforce Australia brings with it a range of interesting economic challenges, and the roles reflect this diversity.

The branch undertakes a range of interesting data work, with the ultimate aim of helping Australians’ to find work. We offer the opportunity to work with and learn from a range of highly experienced data analysts across varying disciplines, and the ability to move between areas of interest within the branch. We also offer access to large and interesting administrative data sets that aren’t available to the public, with the opportunity to work on issues that will drive policy changes and improvements to the wellbeing of Australians.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the APS Level 5 Data Analyst may include:

- Contribute to the development and use of in-house microsimulation models that model changes to Australia’s tax and transfer system.
- Undertake quantitative analysis and research on job seekers using a variety of economic models and data analysis.
- Present the findings from research and analysis to colleagues and senior executives within the department.
- Undertake literature reviews on employment, labour market issues, and other economic issues relevant to the goals of the department.
- Perform other ad-hoc economic analysis and research tasks.

**Qualifications and Education**
- **Essential **- a degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- **Desirable** - familiarity with and ability to conduct economic research and/or data analysis.
