Tweed Civil Pty Ltd is a groundwork/earth works construction company based in Melbourne. We need to recruit an experienced drainer. As a drainer you will be required to construct, install, replace, repair, alter, maintain, test and commission subsoil drains for the purpose of subsoil water collection and stormwater pits, channels that are grated or below-ground storage or retention tanks

**Competencies Required**
- Strong Knowledge of Mathematics - to be able to calculate specific measurements
- Excellent communication skills - to liaise and communicate with team members
- Knowledge of management of material resources - to obtain and use appropriate equipment, facilities and materials
- Problem solving skills - analyse information, choose the best result and solve problems to get the best outcome
- Ability to coordinate the work and activities of others

**Key Responsibilities**
- Install water main (PVC and DICL)
- Build sewer manholes
- Install stormwater lines and build pits
- Read plans and specifications to better understand the design requirements
- Constructing concrete structures (Pits, thrust blocks, puddle flange)
- Work out measurements and grades
- Set up pipe laser
- Organise and arrange material needed
- Deepening of channels
- Construction of a surface water carrier pipeline
- Maintenance and repair of sub soil (below ground) drainage systems
- Install drainage and services pipework to the specified grade and alignments.
- Monitor and assist with trench excavation for installation of pipework.
- Operate in a safe manner and identify safe working conditions
- Below ground stormwater hook-up's and maintenance
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and the materials required for the task
- The ability to install pipework to a precise level and
- Ability to carry out inspection procedures
- Ability to locate existing underground services
- Ability to direct and support plant operators by monitoring and assisting with trench excavation for installation of pipework
- Installing subsoil drains for the purpose of subsoil water collection
- Constructing, installing, replacing, repairing, alteration and maintenance of stormwater pits, channels that are grated below-ground
- Ensuring stormwater pits, below ground storage and retention tanks have adequate storage
- Occasionally you will be required to excavate and level the ground to line, depth and grade required and construct brick or concrete pits as part of the installation process
- Set up pipe laser levels
- Construct and install surface water carrier pipes
- Maintain and repair sub soil (below ground) drainage systems
- Install drainage and services pipework to the specified grade and alignments
- Test and inspect stormwater hook-up's and maintenance works

The person must be willing to commit to the company on a long-term basis and agree to be relocated to another regional area at short notice.

We are committed to employing local workers. Ideally, we would like to recruit an Australian or an Eligible New Zealand drainer for this new position.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Overtime
- Weekend availability

Supplementary Pay:

- Overtime pay
