Recreation Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Coordinator to join our team in delivering high-quality care, housing, and services to older people at risk or experiencing homelessness.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring current programs continue to run efficiently while leading a small team to facilitate daily recreation programs. The individual will be called upon to backfill various Recreation Coordinators across the Greater Melbourne Region as required throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and develop a recreation program designed to meet the individual leisure needs of each client while maximising their recreational independence.
  • Supervise and support other members of the recreation team regarding structure and development of programs.
  • Encourage clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
  • Ensure accurate and relevant documentation is up-to-date.
  • Promote recreational opportunities available within the broader community.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working within the social sector or degree qualified in Leisure and Lifestyle, Psychology, Community Development, or a similar discipline.
  • Current driver's license (mandatory).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates desirable.
  • Experience in recreational program planning and implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.

  • Interest in Social Justice Issues.
  • Experience working with clients from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Non-judgmental attitude.
