We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child and Youth Psychiatrist to join our team at Cairns Hospital and Health Service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health services to children and youth in our region.
About the Role- Deliver inpatient and outpatient mental health clinical services to children and youth
- Manage patients with complex mental health treatment needs and/or in situations of high clinical risk
- Lead and function within a multidisciplinary mental health clinical team
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with non-mental health medical practitioners and other service providers
- Provide clinical teaching to junior medical staff, medical students, and other mental health clinicians
Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (MHATODS) provides a range of community and inpatient services, staffed by multidisciplinary teams with a broad mix of skills, knowledge, and professional backgrounds.
The services currently include a 38 bed Acute Adult Mental Health Unit; 10 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit; 12 bed (sub-acute) Adult Step Up Step Down Unit, 20 bed Community Care Unit; Acute Care Team including the 1300 MH CALL Intake Service and Emergency Department MH Team; Adult Mental Health Community Care Teams; Child and Youth Mental Health Services; EVOLVE Therapeutic Services; Older Persons Psychiatry Service; Consultation Liaison Services; Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team; Rural & Remote Mental Health Services; Forensic Mental Health Service; Perinatal services and Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Services.
Requirements- Registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent
