Director/Principal Lawyer – Administrative Law

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as Director/Principal Lawyer – Administrative Law. This is a busy and fast-paced role that requires a high level of expertise and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Providing expert advice on complex matters and making decisions as an authorised officer under the FOI Act and as a delegate of the Commissioner under the NDIS Act.
- Driving the workplace and service culture of the Internal Integrity Unit and the Legal Services & Internal Integrity Division.
- Ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed and met, building strong relationships with stakeholders within and external to the NDIS Commission.
- Ensuring all statutory and internal timeframes are complied with.
- Assessing and leading continuous improvement initiatives in relation to the functions, team, Division and across the Commission.
- Supervising, coaching and mentoring staff, including by identifying and addressing aspects of their knowledge, skills or performance that may need to be developed.
- Representing the Internal Integrity Unit and the Legal Services & Internal Integrity Division in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing high-quality reports, briefing papers and correspondence for the Minister, the Commissioner, and the Commission's Senior Executive.
- Tertiary legal qualifications or other tertiary qualifications related to the role.
- At least 5 years' experience working in the areas of administrative law, administrative reviews or administrative decision-making.
- At least 8 years' experience leading diverse teams or leading projects involving a broad range of stakeholders.
