About Us

We are seeking a Workshop Assistant to join our team. As a Workshop Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting our skilled technicians with all functions within the workshop.

Job Summary:

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out pre-delivery inspections of machines, service and repairs to customer and company owned equipment, and assisting with installing, testing, repairing and modifying electronic and hydraulic equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the evaluation of machine performance and inspect designs and finished products for compliance with specifications;
  • Help install, test, repair and modify electronic and hydraulic equipment as required;
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections of machines and assess them to ensure they are in good working order;
  • Assist with conducting repairs and maintenance of customer and company owned equipment;
  • Perform general cleaning and tidying of the workshop and abide by specific site instructions including Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental policies;
  • Responsible for completing all appropriate paperwork and inspection forms required by industry standards and customer requirements;
  • Assist with conducting three monthly and annual inspections of machines in accordance with industry standards;
  • Sand, paint and perform other trade assistant duties as required;
  • General ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to commit to a 4 year apprenticeship program that includes on-the-job training and block theory and practical training with a registered training organization;
  • Qualifications include either a cert III in Elevating Work Platforms or a Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology;
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal, listening skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Proficient language, literacy and numeracy skills, including ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers and quantities;
  • Mature-minded and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanically-minded, previous experience with mechanics, electrics or hydraulics;
  • Good attention to detail, strong time-management and prioritization skills, able to multi-task and prioritize competing requirements and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where requirements are constantly changing.
