The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing works tirelessly to create equal opportunities for all Victorians to live a safe, respected, and valued life. Their areas of focus include child protection, housing, disability, the prevention of family violence, multicultural affairs, LGBTQI+ equality, veterans, women, and youth. The work they do benefits thousands of Victorians, particularly those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Child Protection Practitioner will receive and assess reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people, undertaking investigations and developing plans to ensure the safety, stability, and development of children and young people.
  • They will gather information through various sources and technologies to identify, articulate, and plan for risks relating to each situation, applying a strong forensic lens and professional judgment to analyze the available evidence.
  • The practitioner will draw insights from assessment and analysis to formulate a meaningful and effective case plan, reviewing case progress and outcomes, and coordinating and leading the planning, review, and management of casework within DFFH and across other agencies and services.
