We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Tradesperson to join our Coupled Pickled Cold Mill (CPCM) Asset Team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility.

As part of the Australian Steel Products portfolio, we operate six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla, delivering innovative solutions and services to domestic and export customers.

The CPCM is a highly automated processing line that uses a blend of old and new technology. The primary purpose of the CPCM is strip thickness reduction in preparation for downstream steel coating processes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance tasks on the CPCM as required, working closely with the mechanical team to ensure equipment isolation for shutdown works.
  • Conduct fault-finding and inspections on quality and production-critical equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Carry out daily mechanical maintenance within the CPCM and participate in shut-down activities, contributing to the team's efforts.
  • Provide out-of-hours support as needed, collaborating with the maintenance coordinators to achieve operational goals.
  • Contribute to the team's continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting ways to enhance maintenance practices and protocols.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Mechanical fitter/machinist qualifications, comprising either a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or Diploma.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment, with exposure to maintenance management systems and/or basic computer skills.
  • An enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop yourself in the role, demonstrating adaptability and a growth mindset.
