This mid-senior level position is for a Clinical Nurse in Medical Imaging at the Child and Adolescent Health Service. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to infants, children, and young people.
Job DescriptionThe successful applicant will have advanced clinical knowledge and experience in delivering evidence-based nursing care within a practice setting. They will also have well-developed communication skills, including teaching, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. In addition, they will be able to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Setting Standards: Model best practice, guide and support colleagues, and contribute to decision-making in complex cases while prioritizing patient safety, dignity, and comfort.
- Operational Leadership: Supervise nursing staff, plan and oversee theatre lists, mentor junior staff and students to promote professional growth and development.
- Patient Care: Screen and prepare patients and families for procedures, explain processes and outcomes clearly to set realistic expectations, determine goals, and manage potential complications.
- Education and Support: Act as a state-wide resource in Paediatric Medical Imaging, providing education and support to other healthcare facilities.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, engage in professional development, and clinical research activities, driving evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
- Post-Care Education: Advocate for patient needs, provide post-care education, and discharge planning and advice to support confidence and understanding.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed-term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments). A current registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) is required.
About The TeamBased at Perth Children's Hospital, the Medical Imaging Department provides services for children from birth to 16 years, supporting inpatients, outpatients, and the Emergency Department. Our services include a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and specialized procedures.
