Educational Leader for Language Learning

We are seeking a dedicated and strategic thinker to lead our Languages department at the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE). The successful candidate will work in partnership with other Heads of Learning Area to deliver high-quality, student-focused programs in a range of contexts.

The role involves providing effective leadership in diverse educational settings, fostering continual improvement in staff performance, and leading teams to support the strategic directions of the school. We are looking for someone who can build partnerships and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders across various contexts.

As a highly performing instructional and curriculum leader, you will demonstrate the ability to manage staff, physical and financial resources, and apply your professional knowledge to ensure high educational outcomes for all students. This includes Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and students with special needs.

SIDE delivers Kindergarten to Year 12 languages programs in Chinese, French, Indonesian, Italian, and Japanese. Our students are predominantly in small regional and remote schools with diverse cultural backgrounds. You will be part of a team that works collaboratively to provide inclusive and culturally responsive educational programs in a blended learning environment.

This position requires the following qualifications and skills:

  • A qualification to teach one or more of the languages offered at SIDE
  • Knowledge of both the Western Australian Curriculum: Languages K-10 and ATAR Language syllabus requirements
  • Ability to apply this knowledge to ensure high educational outcomes for all students

An estimated annual salary of $120,000 - $150,000, plus superannuation and leave entitlements, is provided for this role based on the level of responsibility and required qualifications.
