Job Title: Dairy Cattle Management Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dairy Cattle Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will play a critical role in the management of dairy cattle operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate milk production processes, including milking shed routines and herd fertility management.
  • Implement reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and estrous detection.
  • Manage pastures and crops for livestock production, develop livestock feeding plans, and analyse produce to set and maintain standards of quality.
  • Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain an optimal environment for the wellbeing of livestock.
  • Supervise work routines and staff performance of less experienced employees, implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant documentation.
  • Operate milking plant and equipment safely, read and record instrument information, and match cow ID to calves to produce a quality milk outcome.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in animal science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in dairy cattle management, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of dairy cattle breeding, reproduction, and nutrition.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
