Education and Care Leader

The role of an Education and Care Leader is to promote children's well-being, development and learning by helping the children develop values, attitudes and ways of living and learning. This will be achieved by providing a high quality of care, activities and educational elements to those in the program, managing and promoting a team environment and working within the organization's philosophy, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the education program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator
  • Ensure children's learning and development informs the design of the education program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development;
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff and all internal and external stakeholders;
  • Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices;
  • Mentor and support educators understanding of the education program and practice including how to reflect on the effectiveness of their programs, interactions, intentional teaching and other strategies;
  • Ensure compliance with policy;
  • Undertake administrative requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Hold a Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education;
  • Have had sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting;
  • Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others;
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning;
  • A demonstrated understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning;
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and the use of a range of leadership styles;
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas;
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification;
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, Blue Card
