Energy Market Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical professional to join our team as a Commercial Analyst for Power Trading.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electricity market fundamentals, including pricing mechanisms, market structure, and regulatory frameworks.
Your Key Responsibilities- Analyze large datasets related to electricity markets to uncover critical trends and patterns
- Develop, refine, and maintain forecasting models for energy prices and market risk evaluation
- Collaborate closely with traders to enhance trading strategies and risk management practices
- Design and implement custom software tools to streamline market analysis and automate reporting workflows
- Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to continuously enhance market analytics and forecasting capabilities
- Stay informed on industry developments, regulatory changes, and market dynamics, and regularly provide strategic insights to senior management
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science
- Prior experience working with the AEMO MMS Database is essential
- Proficient in software development, with experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, R, or C++
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in handling large and complex datasets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill and convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders
