We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Analyst to join our team in the Australian power trading industry.

Job Description

The Commercial Analyst will play a vital role in analyzing market data, forecasting price movements, and building custom tools to enhance trading strategies and risk management practices.

  • Analyze large datasets related to electricity markets to uncover critical trends and patterns.
  • Build, refine, and maintain forecasting models for energy prices and market risk evaluation.
  • Collaborate closely with traders to enhance trading strategies and risk management practices.
  • Design and implement custom software tools to streamline market analysis and automate reporting workflows.
  • Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to continuously enhance market analytics and forecasting capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you will require a solid understanding of electricity market fundamentals, including pricing mechanisms, market structure, and regulatory frameworks. You should also have proficient programming skills, particularly in Python, Java, R, or C++.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Prior experience working with the AEMO MMS Database is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of spot trading in the Australian electricity market is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in handling large and complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill and convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
