CNC Laser Programming Role

This is a unique opportunity to join our team in Meadowbrook, QLD and contribute to the efficient production of metal products for the Australian Manufacturing industry.

As a CNC laser programmer, you will be responsible for training and directing machine learning algorithms to optimize part nesting and laser cutting output. You will also review material nests using your keen eye for detail to apply suitable laser cutting parameters and optimize sheet yield within tight lead times.

This position is ideal for junior CNC programmers looking to advance their career or experienced laser operators seeking professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and optimize customer CAD drawings using best practice nesting and tagging methodologies across various equipment.
  • Modify parts and make adjustments where necessary using CAD functions available in CAM software.
  • Achieve superior nesting results by evaluating all parts scheduled for production to maximize material yield.
  • Program, review, and remotely export laser cutting programs to TRUMPF CO2 and Fiber lasers.
  • Configure and program industrial automation systems, including liftmaster loaders, to enable unmanned operation in lights-out scenarios.
  • Select and procure raw materials from trusted suppliers.
  • Assist with managing, recovering, and utilizing raw material offcuts and remnants.

Quality Assurance:

  • Uphold high quality standards applied to all processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to creating, implementing, or optimizing QA processes.
  • Report and investigate quality issues.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts to enhance work methods and outputs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in sheet metal manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of different material types and qualities.
  • Understanding of sheet metal production and processing technologies.
  • Experience operating manufacturing related software.
  • Experience in CAD and CAM, particularly TRUMPF TruTops Boost.
  • Experience as a profile cutter or press brake operator.
