Airport Planning Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airport Planning Director to join our team. As a key member of our Domestic Aviation and Reform Division, you will play a critical role in implementing measures to improve airport planning, community education, and best practice approaches to minimizing the impacts of aircraft noise.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a range of workstreams to update National Airport Safeguarding Framework (NASF) guidance on best-practice approaches for including aircraft noise exposure notifications on property titles for new developments.
- Develop guidance to pilots on 'Flying Considerately' to minimize noise impacts in residential areas, when operating under visual flight rules or outside of controlled airspace.
- Update guidelines for Community Aviation Consultation Groups to set out ministerial expectations for greater community input.
- Lead work to amend the Airports Regulations 2024 to implement related measures announced in the Aviation White Paper.
- Manage the strategic direction and workload of a team within its allocated budget and in line with relevant legislative, regulatory and governance frameworks.
- Proven experience in regulation and/or legislative interpretation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to generate high-quality written materials to support decision making.
- Sound judgement and strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to take a strategic perspective and develop long-term plans and solutions.
- Ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build an effective, high functioning team.
