We seek a strong First Nations leader to guide advocacy and community engagement efforts.

As Manager – Strategic Advocacy and Policy, you will ensure that First Nations voices are central to our advocacy initiatives.

You will:

  • Lead strategic projects promoting change, including responding to recommendations from Yoorrook Justice Commission reports.
  • Build partnerships with Aboriginal communities and organizations for shared goals.
  • Provide cultural advice to shape VLA policies and services.
  • Collaborate with community members to share lived experience stories for law reform.

This role offers self-determination support, community-led advocacy, and structural change opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Lived experience as an Aboriginal person with deep knowledge of community and culture.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading people-centric projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • A strong understanding of our work or willingness to learn and align with our values.
