Job Overview

The Environmental Sustainability Specialist role is a critical position within our organization, responsible for ensuring the effective management of environmental risks and the promotion of sustainable practices.

About the Role
  • Undertake compliance and enforcement activities under relevant legislation, including environmental protection and conservation acts.
  • Lead and mentor team members in conducting proactive, targeted compliance activities, such as site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to identifying trends in environmental issues across industries and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Respond to and investigate environmental complaints and incidents, working towards achieving positive environmental outcomes.
  • Use statutory tools and make recommendations for enforcement action in accordance with organizational guidelines.
  • Review the work of less experienced staff, ensuring consistency and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engages with their communities.
