Job Overview

The HVAC Controls Engineer is a critical role responsible for the diagnosis, repair, validation and commissioning of existing installed base of building automation systems utilizing knowledge of direct digital controls (DDC), airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory and applied control strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with building automation systems using direct digital controls (DDC)
  • Commission new installations to ensure optimal system performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to airflow, hydronics, and refrigeration theory
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to optimize building energy efficiency and reduce operating costs
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their specific needs and provide tailored solutions
  • Stay up-to-date on Trane and Trend products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in the relevant industry
  • Strong interpersonal, written & oral communication skills
  • Current QLD driver's license
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Trade Qualified in relevant trade
  • Thorough understanding of HSE industry requirements
  • Applied knowledge of BMS engineering principles and energy conservation measures
  • Hands-on experience in building management systems
  • Experience working on small service projects
  • Technical knowledge in HVAC and Central Plant or Energy Solutions environment
  • High level of technical competency in BMS and related control products/devices (Ideally Tridium / Trend / Tracer)
