Job Title: Baker

Bakers play a vital role in producing high-quality bakery products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production and Preparation - Bakers are responsible for preparing and producing quality bakery products, including mixing, kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding and shaping dough and pastry goods.
  • Quality Control - They inspect equipment and premises before production to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Ingredient Management - Bakers evaluate raw materials and weigh ingredients accurately to achieve the best results.
  • Cooking and Presentation - They prepare pastry fillings for various baked products, operate machines for rolling, moulding dough, and cutting biscuits, and monitor oven temperatures and product appearance.
  • Batch Management - Bakers coordinate the forming, baking, cooling, and de-panning of bread, rolls, and pastry batches.
  • Décor and Display - They glaze buns and pastries and decorate cakes with icing or cream.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance - Bakers maintain a clean and organized workspace by cleaning, greasing, and emptying baking trays, tins, and equipment after use.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work across 7 days of the week
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and communicate effectively with customers and staff
  • Positive attitude and ability to complete duties as directed
  • Ability to abide by company policies and procedures at all times
  • Capacity to train, develop and supervise apprentices and staff in the Bakery Department
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience
  • Certificate III in Baking
