Job Title: Senior Assessment Officer

Join the NT Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security as a Senior Assessment Officer and contribute to the protection of the Territory's unique environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Assessment Officer to join our Environmental Assessment Unit (EAU). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in effectively implementing environmental impact assessments of development proposals in accordance with the Environment Protection Act 2019 (EP Act) and Environment Protection Regulations 2020.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, critically analyze, and assess environmental impacts associated with development proposals
  • Recommend environmental assessment and protection standards and safeguards, consistent with best practice environmental management
  • Liaise with NT government agencies, development proponents, and other stakeholders
  • Provide high-quality, efficient, and timely environmental and scientific advice to the NT EPA and other stakeholders on development matters
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, or environmental management
  • Ability to interpret scientific information and convey complex information to a broad audience
  • Highly developed written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, negotiate, problem-solve, and work independently
