Deaf Education Specialist

St Mary's College for the Deaf - Sunbury Campus is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Deaf to join our team.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to work with our students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education and support to our students, ensuring they reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement personalized learning plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, taking into account their individual needs and learning styles.
- Provide explicit teaching and support to students in the classroom, using evidence-based practices and strategies to promote academic achievement and social development.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive education for all students, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures related to the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Professional qualifications in the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing (or a willingness to undertake further study).
- Registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
