As a key player in the energy sector's transition toward decentralisation, electrification and grid resilience, we're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of strategically located battery energy storage projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving outcomes across technical, safety, commercial and regulatory dimensions, transforming how small-scale energy storage integrates into the grid while aligning with national energy objectives and corporate profitability.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance project requirements with long-term network performance and commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example in embedding a high-performance safety culture across all stages of project delivery.
  • Drive full-lifecycle delivery of BESS projects from concept, feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and asset handover.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal teams, external OEMs, consultants and DNSPs.
  • Ensure optimal integration of BESS into zone substations, considering system protection, SCADA/telemetry, cybersecurity, safety schemes and DER/grid-edge compatibility.
  • Deliver BESS projects within approved budgets and schedules while identifying cost-saving opportunities and maximising lifecycle value.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, standards and integration methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer (elec) qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Member IEAust or equivalent professional membership.
  • Experience in utility-scale or distribution-level energy infrastructure projects.
