Job Role:

The Community Housing Officer is a pivotal position in delivering holistic, person-centred support to individuals facing housing instability.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Undertake comprehensive initial assessments and develop tailored case plans
  • Maintain and adjust case plans according to client progress and evolving needs
  • Provide immediate crisis support and facilitate connections with relevant external services
  • Collaborate with property professionals to enhance clients' housing outcomes
  • Manage a portfolio of residential properties, including inspections and tenancy transitions
  • Navigate relationships with key stakeholders such as Police, Child Safety, Corrections, Youth Justice, Public Guardian, and educational institutions
  • Foster coordinated, wraparound services to promote client wellbeing and long-term stability
  • Empower independent living skills including budgeting, daily routines, and shared responsibilities
Key Requirements:
  • Qualifications in Mental Health, Social Work, or Community Services (highly regarded)
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness
  • In-depth understanding of complex needs
  • Proven experience in case management, particularly with high-needs or vulnerable populations
