About the Role
Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic on a permanent part-time basis, working 32 hours per week.
The Clinical Nurse will work collaboratively with general practitioners and the broader practice team to offer comprehensive, trauma-informed general practice care for patients from a refugee background.
The role encompasses the full breadth of general practice services, including triage, immunisations, minor procedures, wound care, healthcare assessments, acute and chronic disease management, care coordination, patient advocacy, and health and health system literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to ensuring the clinical environment meets relevant standards and legislative requirements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members.
- Support the Nurse Unit Manager, Operations and Practice Manager, and Clinical Director in activities designed to drive continuous quality improvement and assist with skill development.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You

To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions).
- Immunisation Program Nurse qualification (or currently enrolled in course) and evidence of up to date continuing professional development in immunisation.
- Minimum 3 years' clinical experience in a relevant specialist nursing field: refugee health/general practice/primary health care/chronic disease.
- Previous experience in general practice highly regarded.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including experience of working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, and strong listening, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic political environment in which refugee health is embedded.
- Post-graduate studies (completed or currently enrolled) relevant to the role - highly desirable.
