Job Overview

The Senior Zoologist will collaborate with the Vertebrate Fauna team to deliver high-quality field data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Lead and manage vertebrate zoological surveys and assessments with support.
  • Report and liaise with clients on environmental legislation, specialist surveying techniques, and conduct efficient technical field surveying and samples remotely and locally.
  • Undertake baseline and monitoring projects throughout Western Australia.
  • Contribute to the delivery of complex projects with support from Team Leads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and coordinating field work, budgets, and milestones with the team to meet project requirements.
  • Contribute to technical training and development of internal teams.
  • Use complex statistical data to interpret research findings, building recommendations for client reports and presentations.
  • Ensure organisational and client safety protocols are adhered to, train colleagues and team members on processes, and contribute to a culture of continuous safety improvement.
  • Document and record survey findings, providing guidance to Zoologists and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Zoology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or similar.
  • Class C open licence (essential) and experience with 4WD (preferable).
  • Postgraduate experience in a relevant field, with clear evidence of ability to work effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing field teams.
  • Ability to manage small projects or larger projects with support.
