Senior Zoology Specialist

This role involves leading the delivery of high-standard daily animal care and supporting organisational objectives.

  • Contributes to problem-solving and project opportunities.
  • Ensures the physical and behavioural health of animals is promoted.
  • Mentors Technical Officers in administering quality husbandry for species under care.

This position operates within a strong safety culture, following defined Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies and procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

In this capacity, you will lead others to drive positive change.

  • A Certificate III in Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care or industry equivalent certification is required.
  • Applied, high-level biological knowledge and extensive experience in wildlife husbandry and management in a zoo environment are necessary.
  • Demonstrated mentorship experience of technical staff to achieve organisational objectives is required.

Experience in planning and coordinating activities/projects in a zoo environment, along with active support for conservation and communication of a conservation and biodiversity ethos to the public, is also essential.
